Committed to operating sustainably
As we work to reopen the St. Croix Refinery, we’re committed to operating sustainably and being a good neighbor. The majority of our leadership team calls St. Croix home, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to bring new energy to the Virgin Islands.
Here's what you can expect from us.
- You’ll know us by our actions. We take our responsibility for protecting St. Croix’s ecosystems, the local economy, and the health and safety of residents and our employees very seriously.
- We intend to hire like-minded people who recognize the vital importance of effective, well-enforced health, safety, and environment (HSE) programs.
- Your questions and concerns are important to us. We will strive to be accessible and accountable.
- As you get to know us, we hope you’ll come to regard us as active, reliable, and visible neighbors. By joining us at our outreach efforts and special events, you’ll be able to see our commitment to St. Croix firsthand.
Caring for St. Croix's Ecosystem
One of our first collaborations in St. Croix is a shared effort with University of the Virgin Islands. Together, we’re establishing an applied island ecology center that will develop climate solutions and strategies.
Center programs will include ecosystem restoration across St. Croix’s south shore and climate initiatives that harness blue carbon ecosystems like mangroves and tidal marshes. These ecosystems can sequester and store vast amounts of CO2, making them a highly effective means of reducing the impacts of climate change.
